Sofia Brown

Sofia Brown (she/her) is this year’s Kelp Restoration Fellow with the Greater Farallones Association, supporting the team with field, lab, data, and outreach activities. She recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied environmental science, conservation biology, and anthropology, and participated in a marine biology field research quarter. Outside of the classroom, Sofia enjoyed leading backpacking trips for students and getting involved with ecological restoration and education clubs. Despite being from the Midwest, Sofia has always loved the ocean and is passionate about restoring kelp habitats and sharing their beauty and significance with the world. When she’s not knee-deep in tide pools or camping in some remote forest, Sofia loves slacklining, playing old-time music, and reading as many books as she can get her hands on.
