Greater Farallones Association (GFA) is excited to continue the Marine Science Education Fellowship program with one open position that supports currently enrolled college students interested in pursuing a career in educating others about the ocean, but have little or no experience. Greater Farallones Association (GFA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to conserve the ecosystems of Greater Farallones and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary. LiMPETS is a joint project of GFA and NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries.
Selected candidates will be given the opportunity to build teaching skills and comfort working with students, learn marine science curriculum, and have access to marine sanctuary resources. GFA is committed to providing opportunities to the next generation of marine scientists and educators from all backgrounds, and is dedicated to raising awareness and stewardship of the vital ocean resources right off the coast of San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, and Sonoma Counties.
Marine Science Education Fellow positions are available with the following program:
LiMPETS Program (Long Term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students)
The Marine Science Education Fellow will provide instructional and administrative program support for the LiMPETS program. This Fellowship is a part-time, non-exempt, grant-funded position with the Greater Farallones Association and will require a commitment of 10-20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work. The schedule will be decided collaboratively with the supervisor of this role. This is a 6-month position, starting in February 2025 and running to July 2025. The Fellow’s work is managed and mentored by Jaclyn Schneider, LiMPETS Program Coordinator.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, seasonal position working approximately 10-20 hours per week, for the six-month period of February 2025-July 2025. This role is compensated at the rate of $25.81 per hour per our grant funding. The position is eligible for paid holidays recognized by GFA and sick-time accruals on a prorated basis.
